Is Jamaica really planning to break ties with former colonial power Britain, now that the opposition is in power? Well, according to this Sky News report, it sounds like an almost sure bet.
During the leadership debate between Mrs. Portia Simpson-Miller and Andrew Holness held prior to Jamaica's election, Mrs. Simpson-Miller, now Prime Minister had indicated that her "Government will be looking at the head of Jamaica, will be looking at the constitution and the removal of the Queen as head of Jamaica."
Now the report adds that Damion Crawford, a Member of Parliament in Mrs. Simpson Miller's government is expecting "the move to be made official during the 50th anniversary of the island's independence, in August."
Do you think the government of Jamaica will really follow through on removing the Queen as head of Jamaica?
