State television from the North Korean capital Pyongyang has announced on Monday that its Leader, Kim Jong Il is dead.

The cause of his death was not made known however Kim Jong had a stroke back in 2008, and though he seemed energetic some speculate that the leader didn't quite recover 100%.

His son Kim Jong-un was already designated by him as his heir apparent.
